Smegging Xmas

We went round to see the Molloy family for Boxing day. It was really nice to catch up.

We had seen Laurence a couple of days ago when he shot round our house to borrow the small table top halogen cooker that we had used when we didn't have a cooker for seven and a half weeks. We had no cooker because there was no gas or chimney lintel supporting the wall where the cooker was. The Molloys needed the halogen cooker because their Smeg range cooker had given up the ghost. Again.

It turns out it has been randomly not working for months. Laurence peeked with a torch inside and could see an earth cable just dangling. Not connected to anything.

Not good.

Laurence is pictured in front of his Smeg fridge. It's the fourth one I understand. Not because they are so good he kept buying it. It kept failing and being replaced by Smeg.

Unfortunately the cooker was out of warranty when it failed.

Turns out the halogen cooker saved their Christmas dinner.

Over a beer or two the Molloys confessed that they wouldn't touch Smeg with a barge pole ever again. In fact they may not have put it that politely.

Not that I can blame them.

When MrsCLix and I were looking for a cooker we looked at a Smeg. I turned the cooker dial in the store.

It fell off.

PS. Strange that in the parlance of "Red Dwarf", "Smeg" is an expletive. Do the denizens of the future know something we do not?
