Amazing What We Were Offered

We spent the morning back in the Médina with our shopping list and haggling hat on, but rather unusually for me I did a rubbish job of it and could have probably got my wares cheaper...but we had some fun in the process.

At one point we came upon Le Jardin Secret, an old palace garden in the middle of the Médina that was discovered in 2006 and renovated, replanted and reopened in 2016. It was based on traditional Islamic garden design complete with 5 different fruit trees, fountains and pavilions.

After lunch in the Kasbah in the Jewish Quarter, we visited the Saadian Tombs (extra), housing the mausoleums of the Moroccan dynasty that ruled in the late 16th early 17th centuries. They had been lost until a French aerial survey in 1917 spotted them from above.

We finished off walking through the spice market and were amazed at all that was on offer...cinnamon, dried flowers, amber, musks, rouges as well as all the multi coloured dyes.
