On A Sunny Day

You can understand anyone wanting
to get away from it all
even if it does involve
sneaking the kids out of school.

I’m certainly content to escape
the unavoidable content
that occupies airwaves, newsprint
and the gaping mouth of social media.

But it’s hard not to let Boris
(and Trump)
get in your hair!
What an obnoxious and scary pair.

Fortunately I have a spade
and don’t need a bucket.
There’s plenty of sand.
I'll bury my head in it.
