Why Look at Animals?

Lounging in a hammock in the back garden reading John Berger. A blackbird burbles from a birch and is answered from a rooftop beyond. The cat sits on the grass regarding me, distracted suddenly by a collared dove alighting on sycamore. A breeze moves the leaves in the trees and sways this hammock from where I am writing this to you. So much light, so much life intersecting on this special day of the year here in the North.
