Longest day today. Last day in Skipton

As I write the light is sharp and clear. The cows in the fields on the hill across the canal are munching the luscious green grass. Rabbits are hopping around the edges of the lower pasture. They raced off as we walked on by earlier.
A whole extended family of Canada geese sailed on in a line, the older geese protecting all the young growing goslings like one big collective parental security force!
A lone swan attacked them all this morning fiercely flying at them beating his wings, and landing on the water with them outspread whilst he aimed viscous bites at the young ones.
Eventually the whole family group, of around 10 youngsters and 4 adults, took refuge on the banks of the canal, leaving the swan to his domain. He has a cygnet and was serenely gliding on the surface with his missus and family when we walked by after teatime. We gave him a wide berth!!
Most things are packed ready to leave early tomorrow morning as we are going to collect our friend en route from her Writers Conference at Lumb Bank.
We’re looking forward to hearing all about it on the journey home.
