a view from the under side...

...of the cactus plant

it's not often - that the other side of the plant gets its fair share - its due - its time in the sun... i figured now was a perfect opportunity to show it off - that rarity of rares -

the under side of the blossom... gorgeous isn't it? it's what holds it all together - the blossom glue you might say - i'm not sure why it fascinates me... we're always so interested in the front side of flowers - the opening of the buds - how they look - the colors they've produced... we ooh and ahh over them - yet totally forget about the back side - the part which keeps it all connected... if it wasn't for that other part, would we even have a flower - the petals - the blossom as a whole? perhaps not!

so i say - rejoice! be glad this day for the under side of the flower - for the glue that's holding it all together so we can enjoy the fullness and beauty of the whole - now that's what makes for...
