Abbotsford

Rest day for us today so decided to head to Peebles for a nice walk & some lunch.
On getting nearer Peebles spotted that it was their Gala Day so it was mobbed so decided to move on and headed for Galashiels.
It’s a while since I’ve been in Galashiels & was wondering where we get something to eat, not got good memories of G in the past.
Wonderful surprise in finding The Salmon Inn on the Main Street. Great staff, great food & decent portions in a very busy pub restaurant. So if your in the area check it out.
Then on to Abbotsford the home of Sir Walter Scott on the banks of the Tweed. We just did the river walk & had a walk round their gardens, which was a bit disappointing looked very tired.
Stopped in for a cup of tea in the cafe & the service was appalling by a certain waitress. Fifteen minute wait in a nearly empty cafe then no apology & served with a couldn’t care less attitude.
Abbotsford House is a beautiful place, the house itself is amazing & walked through it couple of years ago with Lesley so did not visit this time.
Good day out though and blips of the house & the man himself.
