Handa Island

Today we took a run out to Hand Island with fellow blipper Houseonahill.  The 2.5 hr drive was through beautiful countryside - such glorious monros, hills, lochs and even a ruin or two!
At Tarbet the little rib took us across to the island where we were welcomed by some volunteers who gave us our health and safety warnings re the birds that would dive bomb us to protect their young! It was amazing  how they did just missing us by inches - even though of course were were no threat!  At the end of the walk across the island we did find a few cute little puffins.  98% of the birds are the razor bill, guillemot, gulls etc.... but we were absolute delighted to find half a dozen of these little birds nesting. We carried on around the island - about 7 kms so a long haul for me, seeing more nesting sites on sheer cliffs -  but I was delighted to have done it!
Slept very well!
