At Her Majesty's Pleasure.

My son has been in Ford Open Prison for 9 weeks or so, his last port of call before release under license. The regime is a huge improvement on higher security jails without the obstacle course of endless locks, gates, security searches and fingerprint IDs. Tom is not confined to his chair during visits, can walk around and go kick a ball with his son. He may well get a job outside the prison, and anytime soon he'll be allowed day trips to local towns, then extended home visits over a long weekend. He can't wait, but the process is still grindingly slow. Even slower is the progress of his Appeal still in the hands of the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The smoke signals from them are positive and a decision may or may not be imminent. Justice delayed is justice denied, but we will have justice in the end.
