Top of the Mountain

We got bored and decided to drive up to Mount Hamilton, home of the Lick Observatory. Let's just say we wanted to see all the holiday lights at once....

Mount Hamilton is the highest peak in the local area (4200 feet - 1280 meters). The drive up is quite impressive, traveling through rolling oak woodland and ending up in Grey Pine/Madrone at the top. The road is paved, but is windy, exposed, and barely a single lane on the upper parts.

This image was taken coming down the mountain, just around sunset. The lights cover the area from south San Jose to the southern part of the San Francisco Bay - to the right.

Enjoy LARGE!
