A walk in the wild.

Today we decided to turn right and go towards the wilds of Rannoch Moor, it was a bright and dry day. We parked at a forestry commission plantation called Rannoch Lodge and started walking towards Loch Ericht. Form the South there is no other way to access the loch. With all the big scenery around (having left the trees behind!!) I was amazed by the beautiful flowers growing in such tough conditions.

On the left is the Common Spotted Orchid and on the right is the Marsh Orchid. It was very blowy and barren but fantastic being away from civilisation.

There was far more wildlife than elsewhere, stonechats, snipe, red deer, gorgeous little flowers and no cars!!

After a day giving in to the lurgy this was fantastic.
