Mono Monday - Outdoors

Beautiful blue skies outdoors today in the mountains so we had great views of the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria at 3798m. See extra. We drove along the Großglockner High Alpine Road then up to the Edelweißspitze (2500m) a favourite mountain road for bikers and cyclists. The view is stunning from the top and we spent a bit of time soaking up the landscape and drinking a hot chocolate and eating Apple Strudel and Germknödel (yeast dumpling with plum jam and poppy seeds) as it was still a bit cool at that altitude. Then we drove to the Pasterze glacier which has been rapidly receding over the last few decades. We could see the vast difference in length over the 6 times we have been visiting this area. We didn’t attempt to walk to the glacier this time as the beginning is so far away from the cable train that takes you down to the area. Next we walked up the the Swarovski lookout and information tower where the marmots are frequently seen. See second extra. Sometimes you can see Ibex on the rocks but they were hiding today.
