Nature Diary... Face Off

It rained. Then it stopped. The sky remained grey for most of the day. The plants had been slow to produce flowers this year and by now the multicoloured trailing Lobelia ‘Raindrops’ should be spilling over the edge of the planter decorating it delicately. Barring any torrential rain to mash it, it will grow and flower eventually. The little imp in the background listens and laughs. No doubt he’s thinking that if I’d planted them earlier in the summer instead of continually waiting for the summer (which came and went in a day if I remember correctly) then the flowers would be in abundance already. I just laugh right back and think ‘What do you know?’ but I don’t wait for an answer. I’m too busy reaching for my camera as I predict action between the old cockerel and the new little fellow who are engaging in a “face off” over who will get to eat the little pile of seeds which has magically appeared…..stay tuned....
