More Bridge

I decided this morning to continue the story started 25 June about our swing bridge. Today’s blip gives you an idea of what it was like crossing this one lane wonder. As it stands today, people visiting can walk across.
The bridge, of course, now sits on solid ground. When in operation crossing the waterway, it was a pontoon bridge. You May notice an exhaust pipe on the tender house. The power to operate the bridge was a Diesel engine controlled by the attendant on duty.
Being only one lane, there was an increasing backup to cross as the area grew with tourists and residents.
Built in 1957, the new high rise bridge replaced the swing bridge in Jan. 2011. More info to come as my bridge blips continue.
