Särä Dinner

My sister-in-law and her husband both have graduated this year. They wanted to celebrate it by inviting their families to eat särä, which is a delicious lamb dish. It is cooked with potatoes in a wood-fired baking oven following a thousand-year old tradition, in a wooden trough that gives the name to the dish.

There are only two places serving särä here: one is a restaurant specialised only in särä and the other is an old-style house - we were in the latter today. The house was first built in 1882, and it is now upholded by a local heritage association. I found the building lovely and extremely well suitable for serving a traditional dish. They even had comfortable latrines! :)
