A local walk

It was a lovely morning for a local walk with the walking group.  We met in rather a remote spot where we were greeted with this lovely view out across the Devon countryside. It was a walk encompassing some of the more remote areas on the commons and we walked across Colaton Raleigh Common on the way to Canterbury Green.  Headed upto Joneys Cross for a coffee break and crossed back down the Hawkerland Valley to Stoneyford, Kingston, Stowford and to Crooks Plantation where we started.  We were treated to some spectacular views as we walked across the commons, through areas of woodland and along historic lanes, we even came across a clump of wild orchids.  Various historic features were pointed out including an area where the remains of a hamlet can be seen in winter and the Mark Rolle farmhouses and barns.

It was an enjoyable walk on a hot day but with a pleasant cooling breeze, a perfect time for walking before the day became too hot.
