Libraries v Loneliness

I attended a great workshop organised by the public library. There were several academics from the Uni there presenting their research into motherhood, young people and fiction and loneliness, and lots of library people to join in the discussion about how libraries can help address loneliness through their collections and services. I joined the panel event to give an academic library perspective on things.

It was a really enjoyable day and even better is the fact that it should lead to lots more collaboration between us and the public library. I also made some good academic contacts too so it looks like we may be able to help with student engagement with a youth loneliness research project.

I hadn’t wandered past the library In a while so it was a treat to see these lovely image boards on the wall outside the entrance.
