Saturday in Wanaka

We so enjoy living in this great environment. Today was a good example of why
1. We joined a whole bunch of volunteers who planted native trees along a creek bed to help restore a natural environment and minimise the impact of new subdivision. The volunteers were aged from 5 to people in their 70s.
We planted 200 plants in just over an hour, and 2 local businesses provided great coffee and date or cheese scones.

2. We then took Frida for an hours walk alongside the lake- met a few bikers, and no other walkers.

3. Then to a 3.30-6.30pm session of “The Mountain Film Festival” (extra). It was the “NZ Pure” section- so we saw a number of film made by NZers doing very adventuresome things, from a 12 year old’s film about river surfing (he has is own website natwarburton.com); women doing such challenging physical things from free diving to someone we know skiing very challenging mountains. The local Wānaka Community Centre was packed.

4. Now we are sitting by the fire with Frida, Billy and George.

What is not to love about another great day in Wanaka?
