Woodland garden

Lottie and I had a day out on Rousay today.  We went with the garden club to see the ongoing renovations of the Trumland House gardens. Lottie was as good as gold, taking the ferry journey, meeting lots of new people and new situations all in her small stride!  Ollie's friend, Scratch, the border terrier, was there too and the pair of them had some great runs off the lead.

There was a catastrophic fire in 1984 after which the house and gardens were left derelict, but the current owners are rebuilding and restoring and now there are wonderful woodland walks, a water garden and burn and a beautiful walled garden to explore. A huge amount of work still to do, but it's looking lovely.  Lots of planting for wildlife and it seems to be working - lots of butterflies and bees in evidence.

A very enjoyable and relaxing day out.  We will definitely have to go again and take Mike with us!
