The Wanderer...

Hr. Ms Roermond (M 806) was built by the N.V. Dok and wharf Mij. Wilton Fijenoord in Schiedam and was launched on 13 August 1955 and put into service on 29 December 1955. Mid 1987 the Hr.Ms. Roermond was taken out of service for the last time, as the last diving vessel of the Dokkum class, and was laid up conserved in the port of Den Helder. In the end it was strongly neglected in 1996 to Zeekadetkorps Delfzijl. However, this sea cadet corps also received the former Hr.Ms. Naarden, who was still in operational condition. In 1997 De Roermond returned to Den Helder. Shortly thereafter, the ship was sold to a company on Texel, which, however, was not licensed to sell the ex Hr.Ms. Roermond, together with the ex Hr.Ms. Drachten. Both ships were unused in the port of Den Helder. In 2001 the ship was purchased by Zeekadetkorps Lemmer, to serve as a training ship.
