Virginia Rail

I went to the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge early this morning, but sadly there was very little wildlife about.  I was walking one of the trails with two of the refuge volunteers and they said it was pretty bleak.  One of the volunteers quickly pointed down the trail, I am so surprised I instinctively pulled up the camera and started firing away.  He spotted a Virginia Rail, apparently they are not very common or easily seen.  My camera settings were not what they should have been, but I was glad I was able to capture it at all.  A first in my birding book.

Thank you for the wonderful comments on my flying flicker yesterday.
