Out of the window

We're happy to have opening windows in our cabin, so I made good use of these when we were in the cabin having a post cycle rest, as we pulled into one of the sets of locks between Untermühl and Linz (Aschach, for the record).

Before that, we had a delightful cycle - initially in grey and damp weather, and latterly under sunshine. It should be sunny for the rest of the week too. We criss-crossed the Danube three times on little ferries, which is a lot of fun, and stopped at a farmhouse cafe (Siegried Pumberger in Au) that did excellent home made drinking (and eating) products. It was about 35 kms - not too far, and not too short. Just right to get you started at the beginning of the week.

The evening's entertainment was not as good. We turned down the option of a guided tour of Linz in a silly little yellow train, and opted to walk downtown ourselves, as I had to procure cash from an atm. In fact, as we were on the other side of the river from the centre, this wasn't actually a pleasant walk at all, as the centre of Linz benefits from some appallingly pedestrian unfriendly town planning. I won't be hurrying back.
