Idyllic Riparian landscape

A busy morning and early afternoon as I mowed the grass and assembled the enormous parasol that we bought on Sunday. Took some time to position it and even now we think it might have to move it as the sun tracks across the sky.

What took the most time was persuading 20kg of sand and a few gallons water into the small hole in each of the two parasol bases. I should have bought dry silver sand at £3.75 a bag rather than the cheaper but wet sharp sand at £1.75 a bag. It eventually all went in with the aid of a home made funnel, plenty of water and a big stick.

Later in the afternoon we took the car to the Malta Inn, hoping to park only to find all the free spaces adjacent to the pub car park taken. We snook up to the The Village Hotel where we are members.

The walk along both sides of the Medway was very enjoyable - a true riparian zone. This was a term I only came across while in the US recently. Riparian zone is terrestrial biome at the interface between land and a water system.
