Manduca quinquemaculata

Tomato hornworm. These, along with variegated tomato cut worms (Peridroma saucia), are all part of growing tomatoes, at least here in the South. These juicy green guys feast on and destroy the leaves whilst the smaller cut worms actually eat the green tomatoes. We choose not to spray our tomatoes so it’s up to us and the birds to pick these guys off. There are also parasitic wasps that help to some degree.
Despite their attack, our tomatoes are beautiful this year!
Daughter in law is bringing her brood ( Chunky Monkey and Fire Ant), along with her mom and her niece, to the farm tomorrow. Should be fun!
Be blessed.
