'The Waimak'......

Long wide shingle beds
River of cold rushing water
Calm or ferocious

The Waimakariri River runs from the Southern Alps, across the Canterbury Plains to the Pacific Ocean. Today it's lovely and blue as it calmly meanders by but when it's in flood its a river of fury.

Thanks to BobsBlips for hosting Wide Angle Wednesday with the theme of 'Long'.

I have included in my extras a photo taken of the river in it's shingle form. You can see how wide it is and imagine how fast flowing it becomes when in flood. This photo was taken earlier in the year.

I've also included tonight's sunset with it's lovely long clouds just after 5pm.

Wednesday.....a good nor'west day, felt like summer with a temperature of.....21C!! It was not a day for wearing winter woollies. Enjoyed a lovely day with mum, nice to be 'out and about'.

Happy Wednesday everyone :)
