Bee day

We had our first ever visit from the bee inspector!
Filled with trepidation we awaited her arrival and took her up to our apiary. As the inspection progressed we relaxed a bit, as all seemed to be well.
She pointed out to us how to see eggs in what looked like empty wax cells, and how the worker bees prepare the cells by polishing them out ready for the queen to lay.
All four hives have plenty of bees and the swarm that Rob collected has egg laying already.
Overall we seem to be up to scratch and feel rather more confident!
As a reward we went up to High Borrowdale to the Friends of the Lake District hay meadow restoration where reputedly there are Mountain Bumblebees. And yes, we found them (See extra).
So a great bee day all round.
