Happy 4th of July

I was multi-tasking furiously today, working from home so we could also get ready for our planned 4th of July BBQ this evening with another family of expat American friends. Made potato salad, apple pie and banana bread. Gill made more salads, chicken skewers, and we also had grilled hot dogs, sausages and corn on the cob. With mustard, pickles and black olives, it was a real American feast. Our guests also made angel food cake! Haven't eaten that since I was a kid.

No fireworks, but we weren't that bothered. Still recovering from the time a rocket tipped over and exploded in the bike shed, a few years ago. Oops!

Did manage to do some work as well and we tidied up the house (having guests is always good for getting us to clean!)

The weather was perfect, too. 25 degrees, sunny, no wind, and a balmy evening for sitting out.

The honeysuckle over the patio was swarming, and we were impressed with this huge fuzzy bumblebee and his overloaded pollen sacs. Not the best photo, but worth an extra.
