Hay season

This will be a common sight on country roads in coming weeks. I hope drivers are reasonable in making way for hay lorries, unlike one I saw a couple of years back in the West Country, where an idiot motorist had a stand-off with a loaded truck like this one on a narrow Devon lane. ‘Don’t you know it’s the holiday season? You shouldn’t be on the road’ shouted the car man, expecting the farmer to back up for him! The farmer won and the motorist, grumbling all the way, eventually backed up to let the hay load through - as well he should have done in the first place.
