RIP Corky

Sad news today.  Little Corky was put to sleep this morning. 

We so enjoyed having him to stay again last week but he wasn't a well doggie.  He was listless, he was sick a couple of times and he went completely off his food.  When he was sick again on Wednesday morning we took him straight into the vet where they took bloods and gave him an injection to stop him being sick.  But I could only tempt him with a few tiny bits of chicken later in the day and when his mum and dad arrived to pick him up in the evening he could hardly get up to greet them although he was really pleased to see them. 

The results of the blood tests were not good - calcium deficiency and his kidneys were going into failure.  Poor little chap.  They took him back to the vet for a scan yesterday (which showed no cancer or anything) and to re-hydrate him overnight to make him more comfortable.  Then his mum and dad took him home for one last night before taking him back in this morning.

He was a dear little dog and we will miss him so much.  He felt like one of the family.  Sleep well Corky.

This is a photo I took of him dozing on the sofa a couple of years ago.  I put it on a calendar for last year and thought it would be a lovely one of him to re-blip today.
