La Roseraie - DS148

Soulac-sur-Mer is a seaside town on the Atlantic side of the Gironde peninsula. It has the feel of faded glamour and has obviously been a fairly fashionable resort in the past. There are many elegant villas, some of which are sadly in poor condition.
This one, "La Roseraie" has been derelict for a while, yet still looks quite radiant in the strong sunshine.

After taking this photograph, I discovered that it is, in fact, now going to be saved and converted into apartments. It would have been a great shame if it had been left to decay forever.

Its imminent restoration probably explains the barbed wire fence around the property. Someone has already dug out some old photos and done a bit of "urban exploration" here.
