Silhouettes

Warm light behind dark puffy clouds caught my interest after a hot day and a thunderstorm. I initially looked for a clear shot of the cloud formations and thought I should make it all about the sky. But then my interest turned to the interplay between the silhouetted trees and the cloud shapes. I think had I studied the relationship more closely, I could have positioned myself to make more of that.

In reality the contrast was not perhaps as stark as the camera captured due to my wanting to protect the highlights leading to the image being somewhat underexposed. I recovered some shadow detail but didn't want to lose the silhouettes which add to the sense of drama.
