Aldeburgh Day 2

We went out this morning to explore the High Street with the aim of finding a good coffee.  There are a good selection of cafes and we had a very acceptable drink.

We then decided to walk along the spit to Slaughden, a village that was taken by the sea in 1936.  All that remains is a very impressive Martello Tower. Built between 1808 and 1812 along with 103 others in the country to be used to repel a Napolionic invasion.  The tower is now owned by The Landmark Trust and rented out as a holiday let.

On return to the town centre we went to the Lighthouse Restaurant for a very acceptable lunch and beer.  Being Aldeburgh this is the heart of Adnams country, a brewery with an especially good range of beers.

Then back to the Airbnb for some Wimbledon, nice to see Konta get through to the Quarter finals.
