Lathyrus Odoratus

Commissioner for Oaths

Off to the vets in Uckfield this morning to get the spaniel's infected foot drained again. I've never found much of interest in Uckfield and know rather little about it other than its a bridging point across the river Uck on the pilgrims route from Winchester to Canterbury. Apart from that its claims to fame are rather notorious: it floods frequently, its the last known location of Lord Lucan and its where Charles Dawson worked as a solicitor, hence Dawson & Hart. Charles Dawson is credited with several significant fossil and archaeological finds but is also widely believed to be the perpetrator of the "Piltdown Man" hoax in 1912. Many of his earlier finds are also now known to be fakes.
