Jane Morris

Day two of our trip saw us at Whitwick Manor & Gardens, near Wolverhampton. It’s a marvellous house, built originally in 1887 by Theodore Manders. It features many Pre- Raphaelite paintings of which my Blip is one. I’m sure you will recognise the artist as D G Rossetti altho’ only the face was by him, the red hair was added later by Ford Maddox Brown.
There are some magnificent stained glass windows by Charles Kemp and fabrics and wall hangings by William Morris.
The house retains a family feel and the guides are happy to pass on much information relating to it’s history.
There are wonderful gardens too. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a place to visit.
