The Gorge from Beacon Rock

Up early today to travel to and climb Beacon Rock on the Washington State banks on the Columbia River.  The rock is an 848 feet high landmark and  a  has a trail to its top consisting of 52 switchbacks.  The effort required is moderate but the view is spectacular.  The weather was overcast, nevertheless, the clouds formations made for interesting background.

Linda and Ethan my thirteen year old grandson made up the party.  I stopped to photograph.  Ethan found the climb quite easy but soon after setting off began asking about restaurants and "when and what are we having for lunch?"

We are now back home resting while waiting for the granddaughters to arrive for a swim party.  We should be able to sleep soundly tonight.

Two extras, one depicting the rock, and the other the switchbacks.
