On the way home

We gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the ferry this morning, as we knew we could get held up by marching. As we kept out of towns, it was okay, although twice traffic was stopped to let marchers through - the extra shows this in Larne as we headed for the ferry port.

As it happens we were so early at the port that they put us on an earlier ferry than the one we were booked on - wonderful. (No passport control yet!!)

We visited Cairnholy a number of years ago and I wanted to go again, but it was always just that bit far when we were making day trips to South West Scotland. Today we had time in hand, so when we saw the sign we went up to it. Cairnholy is a neolithic chambered tomb, but the curving  facade of standing stones makes one think it was used for a more ceremonial purpose than usual. It's a magical place.

We also stopped at the Smokehouse close by and picked up fish to take back. We are now home and busy sorting things out. We seem to have been away for a long time.
