The Old Scotch Church, Hillsboro, Oregon

Took some time this morning to drive out into the Willamette Valley area, West of our home where many fruit and grain farms are located.  I did find an interesting barn to photograph.  Later on I drove by a beautiful small church and decided to turn around and photograph the building, although it was midday and the light was not particularly favorable.

The church building was completed in 1878.  "The charter members came mostly from the same area in Aberdeenshire, west of Aberdeen, Scotland. They were previously members of the "Free Church of Scotland." Upon coming to Oregon, all settled in the same area on the Tualatin Plains.  From their Scottish origin, this church acquired the name it is more often identified with today, "The Old Scotch Church."

Just as I arrived a few congregation members were departing and they were very welcoming and provided some insight on the history of the little church.

I would like to return to explore more on the building and grounds.
