"Ceibo" - National flower

The ceibo flower, (Erythrina crista-galli.) also known as seibo, seíbo or bucaré, was declared a national flower in Argentina in 1942, but it was not until 2008 that the National Day began on November 22.

The ceibo tree is a native of America, especially Argentina (coastal area), Uruguay (where it is also national flower), Brazil and Paraguay.

It grows on the banks of the Paraná and the Río de la Plata, but it can also be found in areas near rivers, lakes and swamps. Its white, yellowish and very soft wood is used to make some articles of reduced weight. Its flowers are used to dye fabrics.
