World Snake Day

Today is World Snake Day. My beautiful Raoul approves of having a special day allocated to him and his kind. There are said to be some 3,458 species of snakes in the world. Happily the UK has only one venomous type of snake, in the adder.

Raoul is an American corn snake, and is neither venomous nor a biter. I tend to leave him well alone on his fortnightly meal day though, just in case he mistakes my finger for part of his dinner!
