The Lozarithm Lens

Calne (Sunday 14th July 2019)

There is a splendid tree in the town centre outside the Lansdowne Strand that I have recently learned is a Catalpa, and it is in blossom. I think it is probably Northern Catalpa (Catalpa Speciosa). Once I knew what it was I took a macro lens to photograph its bloom, and my bridge camera to put it into context. To the right of the 55 bus (in Extras) is the Town Hall, the tree and the Lansdowne.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
This Is The Kit - Moonshine Freeze (Glastonbury 2019) (recorded 30 June 2019, West Holts Stage, Glastonbury)
I've been picking and choosing sets on the iPlayer from this year's Glastonbury and I think the one I've enjoyed most is that by This Is The Kit, an 8-piece band, on this day anyway, led by songwriter Kate Stables. Moonshine Freeze is the title track from their 2017 album. According to Kate Stables, the name of the album and the song were based on a children's game. She has stated in an interview quoted on Wikipedia: "It seemed like some kind of powerful magic spell. That's woven in there, with ideas about change — how we deal with change and how we relate and live with other people in different situations, how we see and experience things differently at different times, how different numbers can dramatically change a group's dynamic."
