Country trials and trails

When you're on your own and you pass a building covered in slime and looking like the set of Lost (no, not a recommendation!), it's time to press abort. I'm sure it would have been fine. The area was used for farming and I did drool over some huge bags of fleece that had been recently SHORN but it wasn't an open track despite being next to the coast and it was already in the middle of nowhere so I turned back.

Off to Ascog.

Here we enjoyed a much more suitable walk up a rambling lane, past houses and through fields. On the way, CJ had the undivided attention of Fergus who took much coaxing to return to his owner!

At the high point, we had views over Loch Fad before descending another lane past an amazing hall and large country houses. It was hot but there was a good amount of shade. Plenty of time for a good cooler in the sea and a meander along the coast before walking back to the van.

I've pottered around, pondering on where to stop tonight, plumping for a view over Kames Bay, complete with eider duck chick and a hilarious posse of chicks copying mummy merganser.

No midges! No bites. Where are they all?
