A Chance Encounter

I came across this unexpectedly in local woodland. Here in Fife, the speckled wood butterfly (Pararge aegeria) is seldom encountered but luck was with me as I returned from a birdhide, Unfortunately, it was within a huge bed of nettles so I couldn't approach as near as I would have liked.
This is the 4th one I have seen this year so maybe they are becoming better established.
