Ironbridge

We went to the Blipmeet at Ironbridge industrial museum, Shropshire.
Hildasrose and Rob, StevenG and Gill and Orchid99 were also there .
We had a lovely day in the sunshine wandering around seeing and reading about all the industrial processes which came into being around the time of the Industrial Revolution, iron making, brickworks, pottery , steam power etc.
The photo is of the actual Iron Bridge opened in 1781, at the time the first of its type and the biggest in the world. It was designed by Thomas Farnolls Pritchard, built by Abraham Darby III. It links the two sides of the River Severn and replaced several ferries. The ferry company people got free passage across the bridge to compensate them for loss of business. Everyone else had to pay a toll.
Impressive.
