Purple Loosestrife - This is flowering on my riverbank and very pretty it is too, but it is apparently, a pest in New Zealand and other places where it is introduced as it colonises large areas to the detriment of native species.  Rather like the Himalayan Balsam in the UK, of which there are several plants on the other side of the river to me.
