"This is one small step..."

This week, Washington D.C.'s Air & Space Museum is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

As part of the events,  a 363-foot CGI representation of the Saturn V rocket that launched 3 astronauts on the historic moon mission is projected onto the Washington Monument for four nights in a row. The tip of the Monument (which represents the geographic center of D.C.) is nearly 200 feet higher than the tip of the space capsule.

The shows starts at 9:30pm each evening and we went to catch it tonite. Apparently, the rest of DC decided tonite was it for them as well and traffic was as bad as during the worst of rush hour. We parked a little distance away and hoofed it to the show -- in temps which rivaled those of the Amazone. Sweaty affair. Can't imagine what it'll be like for the next three days when we'll hit triple digits. Ah, the joys of global warming...
