still life with shovel

I've only been gone a week, but the garden has run rampant in my absence. D has been cutting back the larger vegetation with shears and I've been pruning and weeding in the vegetable patch. Last night I drove back from the station in pouring rain, trying to avoid frogs hopping across the road. This morning the rain stopped and we've had a lovely day. 

D has cleared a space in the woodshed so that I can carry on stacking all the logs cut from the copper beech which fell last September. I was quite taken with this collection of random objects, all of which were left by past owners and date from the days when it seemed impossible that anyone would ever walk on the moon...
