Salvage from the Wreckage

Apollo50!

Off to Goonhilly for the Apollo50 celebrations!
Park in a field, double-decker shuttle bus to the earth station. Lovely atmosphere. Sunshine and space and kids!
Good talk from the Moondust author, Andrew Smith. Very entertaining talk about the gold record sent off on the Voyager mission (book, the Vinyl Countdown (bet he was pleased with that!)).
An interesting Bowie-themed set - complete with artist creating paintings on stage.
Then the BBC Radiophonic Workshop! Interesting set, quite a crossover with Public Service Broadcasting- subject matter, mix of archive audio, visuals. Some Apollo and Hitchhikers content. Finished with Dr Who, natch.
Then Public Service Broadcasting played The Race For Space album plus others. Really, really good. Even had lasers projecting onto “Arthur”, the 1962 Satellites Dish.
After the final number, we hopped onto the Non-Space Shuttle bus and blasted off. There was a DJ set from Orbital but it was late!

A lovely day. Even had a pint of the special Inter Planetery Ale that Sharp’s brewery had created.
