The Stable Bar is on the southern outskirts of Edinburgh, folded gently between woodland and farmland. It's a New Year's Day tradition for the owner to provide hot Stovies from midday onwards until they're all gone, which is pretty fast.

The last time I had Stovies was on Portobello Promenade when I was about 8 years old. So I couldn't resist. The pub's log fire was roaring and spirits were bright and joyous. After spending a lovely time with family and eating two plates of Stovies, I started to walk home and saw this handsome beast. He was bigger than he looks.
