Team placings on last day

We are team Gilchrist, lying in 4th position on the last day of play with an 8.15 start.  There were either 32 or 34 teams in the competition and we did not expect to be in the top 10, never mind 4th.  We played against team Thune from Denmark and expected that they would beat us and in a way that was fine with us as the final round of games was 13.30 until 15.30 and we had a train to catch at 16.05  This wasn't really how it worked out.  We drew the game against team Thune and could have won if Jim, who was skipping the last end had urged us to sweep, but he didn't because we didn't want to be in the final and miss our train.  However, unusually, the final wasn't played by top 4 teams, but by top 10 teams so we had to play again at 13.30 after all.  Unfortunately this last game was a disaster for me.  We were against a young male team so we knew the game would be hard, but in the first end, after throwing my 2 stones, I stubbed my foot on a sticky section of ice and the pain that shot through my hamstring was crippling.  I had to leave the ice and the game continued with 3 players - which is hard for the sweepers since only one player is sweeping.  i couldn't sit down so had to walk up and down for 2 hours and was really worried that I wouldn't be able to take my seat on the train or on the plane.  The game ended again in a draw and the men had to quickly change their shoes and proceed to the train station still wearing their curling clothes. one of the German players who wasn't in the final 10 kindly took us by car to the station so we arrived 10 minutes before the trains departure. i took some pain relief and was able to hobble through the airport.  We arrived home about 1am, got up at 7.30 next morning and drove to Skye to meet up with the family.  we did a fair amount of walking on Skye, which helped my hamstring a bit, but I still can't sit for extended periods of time.
