Wood White

A trip to Oaken Wood which is the only place where the Wood White can be seen in Sussex (even if most people say Oaken Wood is in Surrey....). The Wood White is a nationally declining rarity and an oddly oval shaped butterfly. The first brood was quite poor this year and the second isn't much better. I only saw six in just over an hour and only a couple settled, usually deep down in the vegetation. Consequently not my best butterfly photograph but I did want to record this my 41st species of the season.
